We Repair Laptop Screen Covers
The Cover Behind The Screen Can Be Easily Broken: One of the common service requests we get is to “fix a laptop’s broken hinge” it seems. A customer will bring in their laptop for our “free assessment” and we can see that the hinge is broken loose from the screen back. Hinges are secured to the screen back / screen cover with tiny screws that go behind the screen. The tiny collet that the screws go into are held to the screen cover by being press fit into the plastic screen housing. Over time with stress these collets break loose when the plastic breaks. The hinge is fine, but the part it attaches to behind the screen is actually broken, and will need replaced.
Screen Cover Replacement
Repairing A Screen Cover Can Be Quite A Process: To repair a screen cover, it must be replaced. The screen assembly is removed from the laptop, and the screen is separated from the screen cover. The webcam, and wireless antenna are transferred to the new cover along with the video cable. The screen or touchscreen is then installed into the new cover, and the entire assembly is reattached to the laptop, and tested. This is quite a process since the parts are held in place with adhesive tape, and other methods. We do this screen cover repair all of the time. Newer laptops have very thin screens and the thickness of the plastic holding the collets in is very thin, and easily broken.
