Webcams Are Installed Inside Screen Assemblies: If the webcam itself has failed and needs replaced it is not an easy job on many models of laptops. The webcam is inside the screen assembly, and this is held together with adhesive. Replacing a webcam inside a screen can be a lot of work. In some cases we will recommend a customer purchase a high quality usb webcam to use. This is a lot less expensive than attempting to replace a webcam inside the screen.

Webcam Cables Can Go Bad: In some cases when we are tasked with repairing a malfunctioning webcam we find the problem is the cable. Webcam cables are quite flimsy on many laptop models and can fail. Also the connectors where the cable plugs into the motherboard or webcam can also fail. We have noticed webcam cables are not manufactured very well on many different laptop models.
